He Came Looking for Me

Second edition published April 2013!

All of Lynn Baber’s books are now being published by Ark Press, and imprint of Amazing Grays Ministry, home of Christian Horse Training. Please visit the BOOKS page for more information about this exciting new edition with new material and photos.

What do the story of an unwanted horse and the promise of a mansion in heaven have in common?

Discover how the plight of a real horse doomed to slaughter can speak a simple, yet profound, message of hope and redemption to Christians today. Are you lost? Afraid? Abandoned? Is your last ounce of hope gone? There is hope even if  all you see is darkness in every direction.

One reader’s comment:

“The author… is a very impressive writer and paints a beautiful, sad, horrible, yet wonderful picture of many things.”

Like a modern Black Beauty, a very real horse named Shiner tells his side of the story of his journey from death to life in his own words. Author Lynn Baber tells the human side of the story and why it is important to you today regardless of how hopeless your circumstances.  You may be in desperate times, but there is good news.

“The little girl reached her small hand through the rails of the fence I was tied to and touched my poor sunburned face. For just a moment I touched her back. As her fingers left my face she said to me, “I hope you find a nice home.”

Her father didn’t say it, but he knew that probably wasn’t going to happen. The pair moved down the aisle of the auction barn away from me, our brief encounter already forgotten.”

Saved from Horse Slaughter?

A newspaper article on slaughter played an important role in Shiner’s story.

The state of the economy and horse industry today have created an enormous number of horses in the very same condition Shiner and Ace found themselves – hungry, alone, and facing the probability of a painful end. Shiner tells you in his own voice how he had all but given up on life. Do you know how that feels? If so, read on.

Horse experience not required! This is not a book about horses;  it is a true story of redemption for all who wonder about their own future or that of a loved one.

No matter how far away, how alone, how defeated you feel today, there is One who is searching for you and will redeem you just when you are most in need. Shiner came home. Discover how you can, too.

Three Messages of He Came Looking for Me:

1. Jesus Christ is a personal savior. He doesn’t seek to meet some quota for salvation. He seeks each of us by name. None other will do.

2. We are saved by grace. The only thing strong enough, big enough, everlasting enough, to bridge the distance between heaven and earth is the grace of God.

Like You, He Has a Mansion Waiting

Grace is ours. The battles we fight are really just skirmishes that persist because the loser has yet to concede the war. The truth, however, is that the war is over. Jesus Christ is King of Kings. Satan has been defeated. The work is done; it is complete. When Christ spoke, “It is finished” on Calvary, He meant it literally. The war is over. All we need do is claim the victory that is already ours.

3. In this time of spiritual activity, the enemy wants us to think that there are still meaningful battles to fight that will still have an effect upon the ultimate outcome of the war. We are blessed to know that no such meaningful battles remain.

I Couldn’t Do It – The Images Are Too Heartbreaking

I intended to include an image on this page of a horse destined for slaughter. My hope was to drive home the miracle of redemption for Shiner and for all who are redeemed by the finished work of Jesus Christ.

Shiner – Safe Forever

Shiner and Ace were most likely destined for this gruesome end. God intervened. But, such photos led me to tears and I couldn’t do it. Use your imagination, nothing you come up with will be as bad as the truth.

Shiner was redeemed and has come home. His story shares the promise made to you as well. – Lynn
