Obamacare – Overweight People are Mentally Ill?
Lynn | Jun 27, 2012 | Comments 4
Brace yourself folks, Big Brother is looking to classify obesity as a mental illness.
From the LA Times, June 25, 2012, “a federal health advisory panel on Monday recommended that all obese adults receive intensive counseling in an effort to rein in a growing health crisis in America.”
An entirely new industry, counseling the obese, will be sprouting up across the nation if Obama’s folks have their way. Al Gore got rich in the carbon credit scheme that sought to correct the growing global warming crisis in the world. He got rich and the rest of us got hosed.
Obamacare permits the HHS Secretary to contract out healthcare to private providers. I wonder who is going to get the juicy contract to offer counseling to the obese? Provisions in Obamacare punish those who won’t fall into line by imposing fines, prosecution, or both. All those newbie IRS agents are there to “help you.”
Mentally Ill due to Food Addiction
In order to arrange reimbursement for all this intensive counseling there must be a diagnosis code. Counselors who treat folks for errant behaviors have diagnostic codes that describe what were once character flaws as mental illnesses, like sex addiction, alcoholism, and what could be next on the list - obesity. To justify required payments to treatment providers, people who do not lose weight by changing their behavior will, by law, be determined to be mentally ill.
During a recent climate change conference in Europe a noted scholar stated that anyone who does not believe in man-made climate change is mentally ill and should be treated whether they like it or not. For those of you who believe God handles such things, move over – there’s a chubby person who needs their thinking corrected as well.
Obamacare – A loaded gun aimed at the obese
Tomorrow the Supreme Court will rule on Obamacare. Will they decide that the government has the right to require a citizen to buy what they don’t want to buy? Just wait. If this juggernaut isn’t stopped, not only will overweight folks be considered mentally ill but it’s a sure bet that other undesirable behaviors will be identified in the near future. Hey, some researchers published a study that concluded that folks with conservative or traditional values are mentally deficient.
Hypocrisy, they name is Government
It is a crime to discriminate against the obese. Yet obesity may soon fall under the umbrella of mental illness. These poor pudgy people must be too weak, stupid, or sick to make choices themselves. Thus the soda and popcorn ban in New York. Coming soon to a neighborhood near you is the retraining camp (counseling clinic) that will seek to remake you into something acceptable to the Administration’s idea of the picture of physical and mental health.
Is it true that the Obama’s have distanced themselves from Oprah Winfrey because her weight offended the First Lady? This story has been widely reported. If so, then Ms. Winfrey’s money is good enough but not her appearance.
Build Asylums for the Christians
Taking this whole line of thought a bit further, what about us poor folks who believe in Creationism and God? How dull and sick we must be to deny the existence of pure Darwinian evolution. How long before there’s a diagnosis code in the counseling centers for Delusions of Deity?
Five years from now, if Obama wins another term, it is conceivable that Governor Chris Christie could be denied a ballot position because he is mentally unstable. That is, unless he loses about 150 pounds. President Obama and his cohorts are setting the standards based upon their personal ideology. Facts are insignificant. What matters is the narrative they put forth (that means story-telling) and their concept of what is acceptable.
Obesity and Critical Race Theory
The essence of Obama-endorsed Critical Race Theory (CRT) is that justice must not be blind. The law should not be applied equally to all. The circumstances of each case must be viewed in the context of the “story.” In other words, it doesn’t matter what the factual truth is of a dispute, what matters is how it moves the proper story forward.
Eric Holder, Attorney General of the United States, is in pretty hot water at the moment. Why? Because he applies or ignores the law at whim. By doing so he is being true to the precepts of CRT. New Black Panters may indulge in voter intimidation, but states may not require voters to identify themselves. The Supreme Court sided with Arizona over a key provision of the new immigration law but Obama has directed the DOJ to refuse to comply with the spirit of the Court’s decision. Why? It doesn’t fit his view of things.
President Obama and Eric Holder enforce the laws they like; ignore the ones they don’t; and make up ones they think should be on the books. If you disagree with anyone in the Obama camp you must be racist, mean-spirited, absurd, or mentally ill. In other words, there is no tolerance for one who does not share or submit to their world view.
Money – Power – Obamacare
Climate change. Green energy. Obesity. Supporters and cronies have already benefited to the tune of billions of dollars by serving those who preach climate change and green energy. What’s next? Billions for intensive counseling for the obese. The fact that counseling has never been proven to be effective fits right in line with the fortunes wasted on climate change and green energy.
At least in this Obama and friends are consistent.

Let’s see Barack stop smoking cigarettes and keep eating the way he does and watch him pack on a few pounds. He and his wife are sending mixed messages all the time about food. Obesity is not a mental illness. I know a lot about mental illness, and the couple in the white house don’t know fact from fiction.
Thanks for all the fire in your spirit, Lynn. It’s good to have a place to speak your mind and reflect on what’s happening in America.
Marie, you are so right about mixed messages. But then, perhaps that’s part of the charade?
Blessings,
Lynn
Thank you for being honest about this – these are character flaws, not diseases. It’s refreshing when the unvarnished truth is expressed. I believe in counseling for these flaws as people sometimes need help to face the truth about themselves. In some cases, pastoral counseling is helpful as there may be a spiritual component to deal with. But, in all cases, the person has to be accountable for themselves and their choices.
It’s called liberty.
Dan
Dan, the playing field has been getting out of level for decades. The government makes it easier to do the wrong thing than the right thing. I was so bugged after doing this post that I cranked out another. Bottom line – when we reject God’s plan in favor of our own bad things happen. The lie is that the government can fix it.
Hope all is well with you and Betty.
