Obama’s Vacuum of Leadership – Here’s Why
Lynn | Mar 14, 2011 | Comments 6
There are only two possible reasons that explain the absence of leadership from the United States Budget Officer-in-Chief, President Obama; he is either UNABLE to lead or he is UNWILLING to lead. It’s not any more complicated than that. Unfortunately, the budget isn’t the only area where he has failed to lead.
Leadership Is Simple
After decades examining how leadership works between humans, between humans and animals, and between humans and God, I have discovered that leader/follower relationships are really rather simple. A leader only fails because he cannot do what is necessary, or he chooses NOT to do what is necessary to succeed.
These same two options apply to why followers fail to follow properly – they either can’t or they won’t. Twenty years of training stallions was dusty, but I sure learned a lot about leadership and respect.
Fiscal Suicide
President Obama offered a budget that is a ticket to fiscal suicide. If you remember the Jonestown tragedy of 1978, more than 900 people drank KoolAid laced with cyanide, following their leader into death.
Unless Obama’s goal is to destroy the nation, cult leader Jim Jones was a far more able leader than our president. At least he accomplished his goal, insane as it was.
Obama calls the efforts of Congress “unconscionable” as it repeatedly fails to produce a budget for the present fiscal year, much less the budget year looming before us. The responsibility is his, so why is he abdicating leadership in the face of the coming financial critical mass? He is either unable to lead or he is unwilling to lead.
Japanese Devastating Earthquake, Tsunami, and Nuclear Accident
There is a human component to the horror that swept northern Japan March 11, 2011. There is also the very real possibility that US markets, monetary system, and military resources will be greatly affected. President Obama was briefed, then went golfing.
What is causing the great sucking sound of this White House leadership vacuum? Dare I say again that the only options possible are inability or unwillingness to lead. Obama either CAN’T or he WON’T.
Failure of Leadership
- Parents fail their children for one of these same two reasons.
- Teachers fail their students for one of these same two reasons.
- Military commanders fail to deliver victories for one of these same two reasons.
- Elected representatives fail for one of these same two reasons.
- Horse trainers fail to get the hoped for results with horses for one of these same two reasons.
- Pastors fail their congregants for one of these same two reasons.
If you disagree, may I respectfully ask you to send me your reason. My bet is that your reason will not stand up to scrutiny. There is only one Leader who is never unable or unwilling. That Leader is the God of the Bible.
Obama – Unwilling or Unable?
I don’t know if Obama fails because he can’t lead properly or because he won’t lead properly. In the meantime, let’s pray for our nation and the world.

You cannot elect a man based on ethnicity. You cannot elect a man based on his dominant physical features. You cannot permit a man to govern your country when he doesn’t believe in the very foundational documents he swore to uphold. A man whose choices are to spend money we don’t have and take trips he, she, and they don’t need in the face of all that has transpired at home and abroad. The man surrounds himself with liars and thieves. What further proof does America the Beautiful need? Be Brave. Be Free. Send the man home. He has several, from what we’ve seen. Although, he seemed at home in Germany while he was campaigning. Just a thought.
Marie, there is a significant part of the electorate that are, in essence, one-issue voters. For some that issue is the gay agenda (either pro or con), for others it is abortion (either pro or con.) From there we can list environmental issues, immigration issues, religious issues, entitlements, and race. We should not elect a man based on ethnicity. Unfortunately, it is the one-issue for many that sways their vote and their world view.
I agree with you that the everyone’s freedom is jeopardized by the present power structure in Washington DC.
Thanks for chiming in!

I believe Obama cannot lead properly because he won’t submit to God. He fails to acknowledge that he is not omniscient and omnipotent. His problem is sheer arrogance.
Arrogance blinds us to our inability, and is thought by many to be the greatest sin. So, your vote might fall into the unable category?
That could sure fit the picture we see.

Good post. I agree with your options – unable or unwilling. I can’t see any others. I have known many people who are unable to lead in certain situations – lack of experience, lack of will power, etc. And I have known others who are unwilling to lead – lack of courage, lack of vision, etc. When it comes to our president I have at times thought he is unable to lead primarily because he has had zero experience being a leader and seems to lack the courage to be a leader. At other times I have been concerned that he is unwilling to lead because he wants to ‘fundamentally change America’ and actually wants the disruptions we are experiencing. Now, I have come to the conclusion that it’s both. He is not a leader so I can’t expect him to lead, but I also am concerned that he may want this disruption for some reasons I can’t fathom as I can’t think as he does. I pray for a new leader in 2012 with experience as a leader and a vision to restore America to it’s fundamental strengths and values.

Thanks, Dan. You may be right that Obama’s failure is a bit of both. I have to admit I cannot figure him out. Or, perhaps I don’t want to admit that my fears may be true.
