End Times and Earthquakes – The King is Coming

Northern Japan was devastated by today’s 8.9 magnitude earthquake. The impact of aftershocks and the threats of tsunami waves have yet to be determined.
Do you doubt that end-time events are escalating? As disasters and insurrections mount, are you more concerned about their effect on the price of gas or your place in eternity?
Time Line of End Times Events
There is an exponential acceleration of the incidence of natural disasters and armed conflicts. This list is certainly not complete, but should give you a real sense of prophecy as it moves from a future tense into our present.

Beginning the Day in Revelation
My husband’s first words to me this morning were, “Did you hear the news about the earthquake in Japan?” He woke extra early and had been watching the news while I continued to dream about the escapades of a rambunctious foal. The first thought I remember was, “The King is Coming.”
We are in the end times. I have no idea when Jesus Christ will return, and I cannot tell you when and how the Rapture of the Church will take place. Anyone who does offer up such information should be avoided. The Word is clear; no one knows the time. No one.
Wars and Rumors, Earthquakes and Fires
And you will hear of wars and rumors of wars. See that you are not troubled; for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be famines, pestilences, and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. ~ Matthew 24:6-8
God has used earthquakes as a display of His anger or judgment in scriptural history. The purpose of natural disasters in this present time is more closely aligned with God’s revelation to Elijah in 1 Kings19:11-3:
Then He said, “Go out, and stand on the mountain before the LORD.” And behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind tore into the mountains and broke the rocks in pieces before the LORD, but the LORD was not in the wind; and after the wind an earthquake, but the LORD was not in the earthquake; and after the earthquake a fire, but the LORD was not in the fire; and after the fire a still small voice.
So it was, when Elijah heard it, that he wrapped his face in his mantle and went out and stood in the entrance of the cave. Suddenly a voice came to him, and said, “What are you doing here, Elijah?”
We are witness to earthquakes and fire. The question is being asked of each of us, “What are you doing here?” Jack Graham included this thought in his PowerPoint devotional today (3.11.2011):
The great evangelist Billy Graham once said, “The greatest strike of our generation has not been by labor unions, but by twentieth century Christians, the Army of God which has refused to follow the Savior’s commands.”
What are you doing here? Do you hear the Shepherd’s voice? The King is Coming, but first He is calling His flock to return to the fold. Will you?

The simple truth of simple Christian faith is that we are saved through the finished work of Jesus Christ. He is the Good Shepherd and He is calling the family together. Hi Lynn,
I was just talking to Lou yesterday about this very subject. The King is coming and I believe the end of time is nearing. Hope you and Larry are doing well.
Debbie
Debbie, I think any who confess Christ are looking to the heavens. While we know that all who are listed in the Book of Life will be redeemed, there may be an issue of timing. When the Church is raptured all who strive to live scriptural lives will join Him in the air. Those who are still hanging on to even one or two things they’re just not ready to relinquish may have to wait an additional seven years to see Him.
Thank you for your comment, and be blessed!
Lynn
Right on. We need to keep our lamps well filled and wicks trimmed.
Dan
Agreed, Dan. I have prayed for guidance about my role as a writer and as a minister/messenger to the family of Jesus Christ. Today those prayers were answered. Our mission has always been to call the family together, and to offer support with messages of grace and victory. But distraction has long been my Achilles heel. Options create distraction, create indecision, and create the temptation to rationalize. I saw myself being drawn into the trap of making what is simple, complex.
God is faithful. Before the trap could be sprung clarity was given. Today did not begin where yesterday left off. When I awoke this morning I discovered a line in the sand and crossed it. My footprints in the sand won’t always be perfectly straight, but at least the destination is in sight.
But, enough about me. Your insight and experience is valuable to me, Dan. Can you share any thoughts about the times we live in? Will those who profess Jesus Christ as Lord hear His voice? Is it time for the goats to be separated from the sheep?
